Last November, Carrie Underwood suffered a fall outside her home in Tennessee in which she broke her wrist and had to have 40 to 50 stitches in her face. In January, she told fans that she was "still healing and not quite looking the same." This week, she offered another update, and things seem to be looking up for the country star.

In a letter shared on her website Tuesday, Underwood shared that she's "doing pretty darn good these days," adding that her wrist is about 90 percent back to normal, and her face has been "healing pretty nicely as well." She added, "I definitely feel more like myself than I have in a while."

Last week, the American Idol winner excited fans when she shared a photo of herself in the studio, not only showing her face, but also teasing new music. The image, with no caption, earned more than 14,000 likes on Twitter.

"I've been in the studio writing and singing a TON, but I've also been able to be creative in a way that I've never been before, which has been very fulfilling and empowering," she shared in her letter, revealing that the first single off her new album is called "Cry Pretty." She released it Wednesday morning and will be performing it live at the ACM Awards this weekend — her first performance since the accident.

"You can pretty lie and say it's OK /  You can pretty smile and just walk away," Underwood sings on the track. "Pretty much make your way through anything / But you can't cry pretty."

"The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can't hold them back," Underwood shared of the new song. "It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life."

The singer has also been active on social media. Over the weekend, she showed support for fellow Idol winner Kelly Clarkson after a Twitter poll pitted them against each other.

"Thank you all so much for your love and support this year and always," Underwood wrote to close her post. "I feel it and I appreciate it."
