ASOS Now Features The Same Clothes On Different Size Models

Shopping online is only convenient if you don't have to return your purchases because they don't fit the way you imagined. Unfortunately, this is an all too common occurrence for those who have different body types than most models. Online fashion retailer ASOS hopes to make shopping a little easier for its customers by featuring the same clothes on multiple models with different body shapes to demonstrate a variety of fits. The move is a test-run that they're rolling out for womenswear across its app. 


Twitter user @ejhc13 noticed the change and tweeted about it to share with her followers. "omg i love @asos even more!!! finally showing the same item on girls with different body types 💕💕💕," she wrote

"Keep your eyes peeled as this rolls out across our app," the brand replied on Twitter. 

In a statement to Cosmopolitan U.K., ASOS explained the new feature further. "We're always testing new technology that can make our customers' experience even better. In this case, we're experimenting with AR to show product on different size models, so customers can get a better sense of how something might fit their body shape."

ASOS has been a champion in improving the fashion industry and making it more inclusive. In the past, they've been praised for using unretouched photos of models and working with eco-friendly brands to reduce their impact on the planet. ASOS has also made positive strides for menswear by expanding its male clothing range from XL to 4XL and hiring plus-size male models to rock the new sizes in photos and videos. 

Many people on Twitter were definitely happy to see their latest effort at making shopping for trendy pieces easier and more inclusive. 

After one Twitter user inquired about whether the brand will role out this new feature for menswear, ASOS explained its still in its testing stages. 

"We're not able to say if this will be available for menswear just yet as we're still trying out this new tech but keep an eye on our app and our social media pages for the latest updates on this!" the brand replied

Here's to hoping the initiative expands on ASOS and inspired other brands to follow suit.
