100-Year-Olds Reveal Their Health Secrets, And They Include Shots Of Hennessy And Spaghetti

A shot of Henny a day, keeps the doctor away.

If 2018 is the year of your wellness goals, then you're going to want to get some expert tips on how to live your healthiest life. And who better to give life advice than someone who's lived for a century? In Allure's new YouTube video, a wise group of centenarians share how they made it to 100 and beyond.

Living a healthy life has less to do with the number on the scale, than your overall happiness. At least that's the consensus among the women featured in Allure's sage series. You can definitely improve your quality of life by doing things you love, surrounding yourself with good friends who truly care about you, and maintaining your beauty — both inside and out.

When it comes to actual physical health, you may find some benefits in a shot of Henny — well, according to one of the elders in the video below.

"The doctor put me on Hennessy in 1972 because I had poor circulation," she said as she laughed about the vintage prescription. "I'd take me a little shot glass everyday."

"I don't know how I reached 100, I can't believe it," said another participant.  Clearly she's done something right.

When asked to share some tips on how to live a long life, one of the women said, "Get enough sleep, eat a good meal, eat spaghetti (with homemade red sauce)." That's definitely a regimen we can all gladly follow.

Other tips include, eating for nutrition rather than taste, taking cod liver oil (or other vitamins), and eating apples.

While many of them had different diets and lifestyles, they all agreed that keeping your body active is the key to health. "Exercise is the best medicine out there," advised one of the women.

If there's at least one piece of advice we should all follow it's, "If you don't use it, you're going to lose it."
