2017 is being widely heralded as the year of the woman, and for good reason.

Throughout the year we saw TIME Magazine's Silence Breakers bring down a laundry list of sexual harassers and abusers, we saw an explosion of women running for elected office and we saw a series of firsts for women all over the world. 

Perhaps no platform was more powerful in helping women get their message out than Twitter, where everyone from an emergency room nurse in Oregon to former first daughter Chelsea Clinton tested the limits of 140 (and later, 280) characters.
